What Is Aviation Calibration?
Aviation calibration verifies that flight, navigation, maintenance, and ground support test instruments measure accurately against national standards, then adjusts any instrument found out of tolerance. Performed under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, it produces NIST-traceable, documented evidence that supports airworthiness determinations and regulatory compliance.
Under 14 CFR 145.109, FAA-certificated repair stations must ensure all test and inspection equipment used to make airworthiness determinations is calibrated to a standard acceptable to the FAA.
