Your Trusted LCR Meter Calibration Provider

Micro Precision is an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited LCR meter calibration provider delivering NIST-traceable results through a global network of 50+ calibration laboratories. We calibrate a variety of LCR meter types for electronics manufacturing, aerospace, defense, R&D, and component testing organizations, issuing calibration certificates that satisfy quality audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance requirements.

Our accredited calibration process verifies all primary LCR measurement parameters: inductance (L), capacitance (C), resistance (R), impedance (Z), dissipation factor (D), quality factor (Q), and phase angle. Each parameter is tested against NIST-traceable reference standards, and as-found and as-left data is documented on the calibration certificate. Micro Precision’s ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation confirms that our measurement results are traceable, verified, and backed by an accredited quality management system that meets the requirements of ISO 10012 and ANSI/NCSL Z540.3.

Why LCR Meter Calibration Matters

LCR meters drift over time through component aging, mechanical stress, and environmental exposure. Measurement errors in inductance, capacitance, and resistance lead to incorrect component selection, flawed circuit designs, and failed quality inspections. ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 and ISO 10012 require documented calibration at established intervals for all measuring equipment used within quality management systems.

Open/short compensation, performed by users before each test session, corrects lead and fixture effects only. It does not verify or correct the instrument’s internal measurement accuracy against NIST-traceable reference standards. Professional ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited calibration, performed at documented intervals, is the only method that confirms the LCR meter’s measurement parameters against national standards. Quality managers who perform routine compensation checks still require annual accredited calibration to maintain their quality program’s traceability requirements.

For industries where component measurement accuracy determines product performance, regulatory compliance, or safety, a current accredited calibration certificate provides documented assurance that every LCR measurement is traceable and reliable.

How We Calibrate Your LCR Meters

Micro Precision follows a documented calibration procedure for every LCR meter. Each instrument is received, inspected, tested against NIST-traceable reference standards across its full parameter set, adjusted as needed, and returned with a calibration certificate confirming traceability and compliance. Every step follows our ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited quality management system.

  • Receive and Inspect: Log the instrument details upon arrival and assess its physical condition, accessories, and test configuration before calibration begins.
  • Performance Testing: Test inductance, capacitance, resistance, impedance, dissipation factor, quality factor, and phase angle across applicable test frequencies against NIST-traceable reference standards.
  • Adjustment: Restore any out-of-tolerance measurements to within acceptable limits per manufacturer specifications.
  • Certification: Issue a calibration certificate documenting measurement results, as-found and as-left data, and a NIST traceability statement.
  • Return: Return the calibrated LCR meter with its certificate and a next-calibration-due label.

Our LCR Meter Calibration Options

Micro Precision offers in-lab and on-site LCR meter calibration to fit your operational requirements. Both options deliver ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited results with NIST-traceable certificates.

In-lab calibration: Ship your LCR meters to one of our 50+ accredited calibration laboratories for service under controlled conditions. Our labs accept both individual instruments and large-volume orders, with standard and rush turnaround options available.

On-site calibration: When instruments cannot be removed from your facility, our field technicians bring NIST-traceable reference standards directly to your location. On-site service minimizes operational downtime and supports continuous compliance for benchtop and rack-mounted LCR meters in production or R&D environments.

Rush service is available for time-sensitive calibration needs. Contact Micro Precision to confirm availability and lead time for your location.

FAQs

LCR meters require calibration at minimum once per year. Instruments in daily laboratory use, high-humidity environments, or critical component testing applications may require calibration every six months. Any LCR meter that has been dropped, impacted, repaired, or is producing inconsistent readings must be recalibrated before returning to service, regardless of the last calibration date.

LCR meter calibration verifies and adjusts performance across all primary measurement parameters: inductance (L), capacitance (C), resistance (R), impedance (Z), dissipation factor (D), quality factor (Q), and phase angle. Each parameter is tested at applicable test frequencies against NIST-traceable reference standards, and as-found and as-left data is recorded. Results are documented in a calibration certificate confirming traceability and compliance.

An LCR meter measures the inductance, capacitance, and resistance of electronic components. It is used in electronics manufacturing to verify component specifications, in R&D for circuit design and validation, and in quality assurance programs to identify out-of-specification components. Industries including aerospace, defense, telecommunications, and medical device manufacturing rely on LCR meters for component-level electrical testing.

A compliant LCR meter calibration certificate includes the instrument model and serial number, calibration date and next-due date, test method, as-found and as-left measurement data for each parameter, pass/fail status, NIST traceability statement, measurement uncertainty, and the calibrating laboratory’s ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation body name and scope reference. Micro Precision provides this documentation with every calibration service.

LCR meter calibration pricing depends on instrument type, measurement parameters included, number of test frequencies, and selected service level. Precision and benchtop LCR meters are generally more expensive to calibrate than basic handheld models due to additional measurement parameters and test frequency coverage. Contact Micro Precision for a quote based on your instrument inventory and required service level.

LCR meter calibration in accredited laboratories is governed by ISO/IEC 17025:2017, which sets requirements for calibration laboratory competence. ANSI/NCSL Z540.1 and ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 define calibration requirements for measuring and test equipment. ISO 10012 covers measurement management systems. NIST traceability ensures measurement results are referenced to national standards.

An LCR meter measures inductance, capacitance, and resistance at one or a few test frequencies, covering most component testing and quality assurance applications. An impedance analyzer measures complex impedance across a broad sweep of frequencies and is used in R&D and precision testing applications requiring detailed component characterization. Both instrument types require periodic ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited calibration to maintain measurement accuracy and traceability.
